Stress-free urban schools
Escalating stress levels among children and teens exacerbates mental disorders, substance abuse, dropouts, crime, and suicide. Ten million children in the U.S. are on anti-depressant medication, five million children have been diagnosed with ADHD, and the number three cause of death among teenagers is suicide. The David Lynch Foundation has provided scholarships for thousands of at-risk students to participate in the Quiet Time/Transcendental Meditation program in public, charter, and private schools throughout the country, including in Washington, D.C., New York City, Hartford, Detroit, and California.
